Do you feel powerless over food?
If you are like most of my clients who struggle with overeating, you may feel powerless over your habits and urges to eat; powerless over what and how much you eat. You may feel that eating is the cornerstone of your existence. You are either eating out of control or the controls are so rigid that you feel deprived and unsatisfied. You find yourself spending more time thinking about food than you want to. You barely finish one meal before thoughts of the next eating opportunity pops into your head. Additionally, chances are, you experience anxiety about food – out of control or nervous that once you start eating you won’t be able to stop. You feel helpless when it comes to controlling your compulsion to eat.
If you have been on diet after diet or if you feel overwhelmed or have uncontrollable urges to eat, you are in the right place. In the past, will power has probably worked some of the time, but not all the time. I’m here to teach you skills that can put a stop to the frustrating cycle of yo-yo dieting, overeating, and food anxiety.
Simply put, you have forgotten how to manage your eating in a way that supports you and your desires. This introductory information is to help you recognize the challenging influences that impact you every day – perhaps even every moment of the day.
You will learn the difference between what it feels like to be ruled by your emotions and what it feels like to be able to manage your emotions. You will learn how to make the choices you want that are best for you and your life. Most of all, you will learn how to feel at peace with those choices.
Power Over food is not about winning a tug-of-war between your desire to eat healthy and the overwhelming messages you get that sabotage your eating plans.
Power Over food is the ability to manage your eating and your life with ease and confidence, and to experience the freedom that is ultimately necessary for you to achieve your healthiest weight.
